Pastel dream on a mid summer morn, 2017
Plaster, pigment, MDF, wood & paint
For this site-specific work Kenny chose to respond directly with the exhibition space, something she often does. The panelling, dado rail and plaster effect emulate the interior decorating techniques she learned from her father, a builder by profession, but also later studying as a specialist painter in London. It also references the aspirational obsession of the British with keeping up appearances. The title satirises the often absurd names for paint in interior design catalogues.
