Making do is often read as evidence of lack. In Kenny’s work it is a form of material intelligence: the ability to improvise, repair, adapt and produce value without waiting for ideal conditions. The practice began with what was available because there was little money for art materials, and that constraint became a method. Plaster, remnants, building products, old photographs and discarded domestic forms are cast, stacked,printed and remade. transformation does not erase their histories. It releases the skill, memory and invention already embedded in them, while asking how labour and context determine what an object is allowed to be worth.
